CANYON DEL PATO

To reach the high mountains from the coast we rode up Canyon del Pato – a narrow canyon with a road that was scraped out of the pure rock walls. More incredibly there are 35 unlit one-lane tunnels to navigate here too. This road leads to Caraz at the foot of the Cordillera Blanca, the most spectacular mountain range in Peru with over 50 peaks over 5700m. Head further south in Peru and the mountains give way to high plains.
