The cut and fit of a textile suit directly impacts how waterproof it will be. Don’t just choose a jacket that fits well when standing. Make sure it doesn’t bunch up at the belly when you’re sat on the bike. If left to pool in the bunching, water will seep through the central zip and soak your groin. Make sure you test the jacket with your three-season gloves. Wearing a gauntleted glove outside the jacket’s cuff might mean water can seep down to your palms. Look for jackets that include textile loops that fit your hands and keep cuffs pulled down for a secure seal.
