More Niken resentment, concern over drugs and Pints Peak.
I’ve just had three days with a mistress loan bike and feel like I’ve besmirched my true bike. It all started when my bike went in for a routine service, to be done while I waited. However, it turned out my bike needed replacement down pipes, under warranty, as the exhaust flaps had seized open. My work commitments and the dealer’s diary did not align so I got a BMW R ninet Urban GS as a loan bike for three days… I had it from Thursday to Saturday and each day was a heady experience. I found excuses to go out on the Urban when I would normally have taken my push bike. I felt like a teenager on a series of dates, but also guilty because my poor old sick girl was in the dealer’s getting a new set of pipes. The three days passed quickly and when I return the R ninet I even enquired about the cost of buying an ex-demo. Perhaps even the bike I’d been with! But when I got back on my old girl I realised it’d been a temporary infatuation, and the fever subsided. But oh that loan bike was so good. BMW’S R ninet Urban G/S with spoke wheels and knobblies is a lovely fun bike and just right for messing about around town. It captured my heart even though it was just for a short time.
