There is a bit of a fashion for ‘vintage’ style adventure and o -road boots at the moment. Which, as an adventure and o -road rider of some vintage, suits me. Proper o -road boots are almost impossible to walk in, their multiple buckles take ages to get in and out of, and garish graphics and plastic construction look awful. The restrained retro look of boots like TCX’S Drier are much more my line. They have a leather upper, with a suede panel on the inside of the calf to grip the bike and a chunky plastic shin guard. Soles are deeply cleated and su ciently exible to allow you to walk about, even on slippery surfaces, without falling at on your face. Three strap xing allows them to be securely fastened. I used them on a trail riding trip to Iceland and they remained waterproof despite repeated immersions, and they were comfy for three consecutive eight hour riding days. They’re also a good balance between chunky, without being physically huge. Though you need to check that there’s gear lever clearance to suit your bike.
