Chain letter

Why, in this day and age, are the majority of motorcycles still propelled by the rather quaint arrangement of a chain and sprockets? I don’t beat my clothes on a rock to wash them and don’t want to spend weekends on chain ‘maintenance’. I’m not sure I require a TFT dash or ten stage adjustable traction control on my next middleweight motorcycle, but I would quite like a maintenance free final drive system. Mark Edwards, email
