TOO HOT TO TROT

Grand Prix seasons started in Venezuela from ’77 to ’79. It was scorching – the 500cc two-strokes were so hot by the end of the race they couldn’t pull higher than fourth gear. Suzuki had to use triple-thickness radiators to stop the power fade through overheatin­g. This is Pat Hennen on his RG, clearly on a chilly day.
