Remember before the lairy S1000RR, when BMW were still trying to lose their ‘beige Farahs’ image? First they put the GS’S 1170cc boxer into the HP2 enduro bike, then converted this into a giant supermoto. The first BMW to leave the factory wearing carbon, the HP2 Megamoto was expensive new and had all the usual limitations of a converted off-roader. We loved it when we tested it, though. And its punchy 113bhp twin, supple high-class suspension and top build quality are as impressive now as in 2007, and its lack of sales when new guarantees exclusivity.
