I’m not quite sure how come it’s 17 years since we tested the Ducati 999 and the Benelli Tornado Tre, in fancy LE spec, but it is. The issue was September 2003 and both bikes have aged well. The looks of the 999, Pierre Terblanche’s controversial successor to the seminal 916, took a while to grow on us but it now looks like a classic in its own right. And the Benelli remains the only bike to feature underseat radiator fans. Its designer Adrian Morton’s latest work is on page 16. I’d be happy with either in my garage.
