There was a problem with the gearbox on some early bikes, which basically ate themselves. Aprilia said it was due to defects causing early wear of the dogs and to improper use of the quickshifter – the manual said to only use it above 4000rpm. They issued replacement third and fourth gears and repaired bikes under warranty. It’s been done, right?
