BRAKING NEWS

Zef Eisenberg, some good news about insurance and more.

-

The world of top speed motorcycle racing has been knocked sideways by the death of Zef Eisenberg, 47. The multiple British and world speed record holder was killed at Elvington airield during a record attempt in a bhp Porsche. Fellow competitor Mike Grainger sums up the feelings of the top speed community: ‘We are all gobsmacked by his death. He was very well respected in the paddock – he knew what he was doing and had a fantastic team around him. Zef was meticulous in everything he did. His death has hit home, there’s no doubt about that.

‘It’s even more of a shock because we were all up at Elvington the weekend before – I was chatting to him on Sunday and then he died there on the Thursday,’ says Mike.

Eisenberg held over 70 speed records in bikes and cars, including the fastest turbine powered bike (234mph), the fastest naked bike (225.6mph) and the fastest bike on sand (201.5mph). He was the only person ever to hold bike and car records at Pendine Sands.

His life wasn’t all about speed records. He was a serious TT fan and sponsored Daley Mathison in three TT Zeros, he had developed a 480bhp V8 production bike built from two Hayabusa engines and he also presented numerous TV shows documenting his record attempts and love of speed.

Eisenberg inanced his racing using money from the sale of his supplement brand Maximuscle. ‘He was living the dream,’ says Mike. ‘He got £™m from selling his company, and put a lot of it into his racing. Some people didn’t like him because they were jealous but he was always nice to me. And he was a good racer – on tarmac and sand. He’s a huge loss.’

All at Bike send our sincere condolences to Zef’s partner, two kids and many friends.
