Stop with all this tech
I’m in my fifties and remember reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance when I was younger. It helped me develop the right mindset to have a go at fixing things in the garage and/or by the roadside.
Maybe today’s biker needs a new version called Zen and the Art of Using a
Laptop because nothing seems fixable on today’s bikes. And that worries me when it comes to the secondhand market where many of us still buy our bikes. Such a lot of preloved bikes are covered in electrical features that all seem to need expensive sensors that tend to fail. Even the clocks or should I say screens are getting so, so complicated. I want to get on and ride not check my connectivity and if it goes wrong I want to have a go at fixing it. Thank goodness for the likes of Royal Enfield for keeping things simple. Nigelbrown, email
