Aprilia Making the most of the new 660 platform

The industrial north of Italy, where Aprilia are based, has been hit particularly hard by COVID. As a consequence the long expected RS660 got its official launch nearly two years after the concept was unveiled. Last year Aprilia showed us a Tuono 660 concept based on the same platform and have confirmed it’s coming, so we can probably expect that sometime in 2021. As for the Tuareg 660, well that’s lost in the wilderness, which is what it was designed for really.

Harley-davidson Hardly able to…

The great looking street fighter has been canned but the pan- america adventure bike is still expected early 2021, as is their ‘Hardwire’ plan, which will hopefully involve more than just canning something else.

There’s no big news from Honda, just are vamped nc750x, x-adv and CB1000 plus changes to the 650 range and some 125 sand scooters. The rumoured 750cc adventure bike remains a rumour.

The first bike from kawasaki’s 49% share in the Italian builders is almost ready, with bi mo ta now taking orders for the super charged Te sih 2. next to come is the kb 4– a Ninja 1000sx powered retro sports bike, which is expected to arrive in March 2021 with 20 coming to the UK. Expect a trellis frame, Öhlins suspension and carbon fibre body work when it does turn up.

BMW Twofor2021

Despite 2020 s complications, Bmw have released virtually everything we were expecting plus a couple of bikes we weren’ t. The only two bikes still to come are the s1000r and anr 18 Bagger (great big full dresser thing). If their current schedules are anything togo by expect the Bagger in spring and the s1000r towards the end of 2021.

Indian Motorcycle Something adventurous this way comes

Indian have been gradually dripping out new models since their re birth but this year things were slower. there have been minor updates to their big twins and scouts but no ground up new models. the next excitement we’ re expecting will be based on the ftr 1200 and it’ s believed to be something adventurous. keep your pee person Bike’s news pages around spring time for this one.

KTM No replacement for displacement

The 790 adventure has become the 890 adventure for 2021, and we also expect a new 1290 super Adventure and rc 390 to arrive in the spring. and maybe a 1290 Superdukerr too.

Royal Enfield Much a do about emissions

Enfield’s aging single cylinder engine can’t meet modern emissions targets, so gives way to a new 350 single that’s debuting in the Meteor which also features a fancy dash. Rumours continue to burble away about an updated and more powerful Himalayan, as well as a new 650 variant; will it be a cruiser or flat-tracker? .

Kawasaki All eyes on johnny re a

Anewzx-10rr is imminent, most likely with a slightly retuned motor and a set of aero wings, to help offset the charge from du ca ti in W sb. minor updates tot heversys include a bigger price tag.

Moto Guzzi Spring announcement

When thev85ttw as launched Guzzi promised more new models. The Euro5 clock is ticking on their aging air-cooled engines, so we expect some announcements by the springtime.

Suzuki No news is bad news

Suzuki are once again looking like the sick man of japan, with nothing new to show us. in fact they’ ve had little to crow about for three long years, other than retro reskins. Rum ours are swirling of an updated hay abu saint he spring, but it’s unlikely to be the genre defining machine were member from 20 years ago. all a bit of a shame really.

Mvagusta Turning potential into performance

Mv have had a good few years under the tutelage oft imursa rd arov and 2021 looks like it could be another success. Firstly, their small capacity bike link-up with Chinese manuf act ur erqj is expected to start showing results, while there is also talk of a Cagiva brand revival to deliver a new off-road biased Elef ant, based on th et ur is move loce, towards the end of 2021.

Yamaha Bucking the japanese trend

Compared with the relatively stale updates coming from fellow Japanese motorcycle makers, Yamaha are bucking the trend with big updates to their popular 700 and 900 ranges.

Triumph Busy times ahead for hinckley

Triumph are indulging in new model releases throughout the winter. For now there’s the Trident and 850 Sport, but expect Trident variations, a new Speed Triple and Tiger 1200 to ride along shortly.

Zero Electric Zero/indians?

Zero’ s biggest news of 2020 was that they signed a deal with Indian’s parent company to produce electric quad sand atvs. there’ s no mention of bikes for now but surely it’s only a matter of time.
