How to store bikes

» Take them for a run and get them really hot – it gets rid of moisture in the engine and exhaust system.

» Make a list of everything that needs fixing when you start the bike up again. Stick it to the fuel cap.

» Spray light oil into the silencer, then bung it up with a rag.

» Over inflate tyres, and ideally get them off the ground.

» Check battery levels and connect to trickle charger.

» Spray exposed metal with corrosion inhibiting oil.

» Cover (charge the battery off the bike if you cover it).

» Don’t just ride, park it and walk away – that’s what I do.
