» I gave up on alarms and immobilisers a long time ago and rip them out if fitted to bikes. Too often the cause of electrical melodrama they rarely deter. Instead, here’s the Spytrack Nano, a matchbox-sized tracker which doesn’t need to be plumbed into your bike’s electrics. I’ve seen almost a week of battery life if the bike’s on the move and the firm claims ten days life if a bike isn’t moving. It’s easy to hide, too. A magnetic case (overpriced at £25) is useful on a steel-framed bike like my CB1300 and a pouch zip-tied discreetly to the ally chassis of my SP2 works. The app tracks abroad, accurately, and can be set-up to alert you to movement and battery life. Other services will give you endless seductive options but expect little change from £450 for a first-year. In contrast the simple and effective Spytrack Nano is £135.
