BIKE (UK)

LIVING WITH...

-

A fool and his tool

» Am I the only person who gets annoyed with mirror lock-nuts? The Zed’s mirrors got folded while nuzzled in my garage, and have undone themselves twice since. Maybe I’m not swinging hard enough on the spanner.

Standing around

» There are lugs on the swinger to take paddock stand bobbins. I haven’t got any, but they provide a reassuring way of locating the cups on a normal stand. Despite regular lube, the chain had a hint of orange after the first wet ride.

Oodles of garage appeal » Pushbike, Enfield Bullet, paint tins, Honda C50, skateboard... ooh, and a supercharged bike. The Z H2’s styling is irrelevant – when the garage door opens and there’s a bike there with a blower, you can’t help but feel a bit giddy.

You can’t treat discs… » 50-mile ride in duff conditions, rinse the road salt off when I get home, splash on anti-corrosion potion, head in for tea. Two days parked outside and this is what the discs are like. I know all bikes do it, but it’s still disappointing.
