LIVING WITH...

- by Paul Lang

Adaptive curve lighting Sounds like a gimmick on the BMW option list but it’s the box you tick first. The headlight on full beam and dipped is fantastic but when something bendy comes at you at night the extra illumination is a high scorer.

Centrestand Centrestands are truly joyful things. Necessary too. So why is this one an option rather than standard equipment? The bike is always rock solid, the chain easier to lube and upright orientation gains shed space.

Bonding

The XR was the first bike my youngest son said he wanted to go on the back of. His assessment: ‘it’s really comfy, I love the speed and you need to go faster through the corners dad’. He knows his stuff.

Distance

After a 260 mile round trip to Lowestoft to watch the sun come up (why not?) you realise that the XR can crunch serious miles with ease. Perfect combo of ace wind protection, comfy seat and relaxed riding position.
