Brilliant boxer

» Flat twins are BMW’S signature, but they’re not the only firm to use the layout. Honda and MZ tried boxers, but Brit firm Douglas had most joy. This is Freddie Dixon, winner of the first sidecar TT in 1923 on a Douglas outfit that leaned in corners, controlled by relaxed passenger Walter Denny. Built by Dixon, it also used disc brakes and won races as a solo.
