MAPS? IT’S LIKE AN ATLAS...

Bikes often have retarded ignition at low revs (and in lower gears). On older injected engines people would install a TRE (timing retard eliminator) to increase – advance – the ignition at the bottom end. But when remapping a bike now we can alter ignition timing across the board, to make more power or smooth a snatchy throttle. Modern ECUS have ignition and fly-by-wire maps for each cylinder, each gear and each riding mode, and another one when you pull the clutch in.
