» Norton built a liquid-cooled 747cc twin using cylinders from Cosworth’s F1 car engine in the ’70s. Planned as a new Commando, they raced it as the Norton Challenge in ’75 – and is was pants. Norton folded soon after, but the motor made it into the Quantel Cosworth, and Roger Marshall won the 1988 Daytona Battle of the Twins beating Ducati’s new 851.
