» The Litelok promises the performance of a decent chain (with claims about clever construction and Sold Secure endorsement to back that up), but without the heft. This version weighs 2.9kg and the manufacturer claims it’s 50% lighter than an equivalent chain, so it’s light enough to be carted around on the bike, allowing you to lock the bike to something, or lock your helmet to the bike. Snap shutting and neoprene protective sheath are useful too. It’s still too bulky for ultimate convenience – I can’t get it to roll up smaller than a 33cm circle – so needs to be strapped to the bike rather than carried in a backpack. But it’s much more reassuring than a disc lock. Developed and made in the UK too, which is a good thing. HW
