What Tamburini would have wanted

[ F43 TRIBUTO ] The is credited as a Massimo Tamburini design, but MV F4 his son says that’s not correct. Andrea tells it like this…

The son of legendary Italian designer Massimo Tamburini says that much of the MV F4 was not actually styled by his father, and that the bike you see here is the first MV F4 to be a complete Tamburini design, albeit shared between father and son. ‘Contrary to what you may think, the F4 was not entirely designed by Massimo Tamburini,’ says Antonio Di Maio, a director of Tamburini Corse, who make this new bodykit. ‘That was the motivation that led Andrea [Massimo’s son] to redefine the design and aerodynamics of the 2010 F4 model. Massimo influenced the entire chassis but only designed the original bike’s tank and the airbox – it is no coincidence Andrea did not change those parts, as it was his father’s work.’

Called the F43 Tributo

(Massimo was born in 1943) the bike is essentially a standard MV F4 with an exotic, limited edition bodykit made from carbon fibre. ‘MV Agusta had no role in this project,’ says Antonio. ‘It was entirely conceived and created by Andrea. It is a tribute to his father and to the 25 years of the F4 project which ran from 1997 to 2022.’

Andrea worked alongside his father later in his career, and was responsible for quality control at MV, then ran the race department. ‘He has always been animated by his father's passion for quality, design and profound technical competence. With the F43, he takes up the baton,’ says Antonio. 25 kits will be made, each costing around £18,000. If you don’t have an F4 to bolt it to, Tamburini Corse will do you a complete bike for £38k.
