LIGHTNING STRIKES
Bence Máté is a nature photographer from Hungary, who has won countless awards for his work. This striking photo of forked lightning across the horizon at night over a mixed flock of Spoonbills and other water birds, was taken at Lake Csaj, Kiskunság National Park, Hungary. Bence said: “The first few lightning bolts come in the lull, just before the storm bursts out. The purple colour of the image is a consequence of the high frequency of the light. While the lightning doesn't really disturb the birds, the camera flash would scare them.” Visit matebence.hu
