HIGHLIGHTS: Five Black-tailed Godwits were at Alvecote Pools. Whimbrels were at Brandon Marsh and Draycote Water. Ring Ouzels were at several sites. A Long-tailed Duck was at Draycote Water. A Pied Flycatcher was in a Leamington Spa garden (20th). The first Cuckoo was at Brandon Marsh (16th) and the first Swift at Shustoke Reservoir (25th). Wheatears were widespread.

ALVECOTE POOLS: There were two Great White Egrets, a Garganey, White Wagtail, Redstart, three Whinchats and an Arctic Tern.

BRANDON MARSH: Highlights included Ringed and Little Ringed Plovers, a Dunlin, Greenshank, Bar-tailed Godwit, two Sandwich Terns, a Grasshoppe­r Warbler, two Whinchats, a Lesser Whitethroa­t and two Marsh Harriers.

DRAYCOTE WATER: There was a Slavonian Grebe, Red-necked Grebe, three Black-necked Grebes, Caspian, Iceland, Yellow-legged and Mediterran­ean Gulls, five Grey Plovers, two Black-tailed Godwits, six Bar-tailed Godwits, a Turnstone, Dunlin, Whimbrel and Osprey. At the end of the month there were 43 Black Terns and 20 Arctic Terns.

MIDDLETON: Three Garganeys, seven Black-tailed Godwits, four Grasshoppe­r Warblers, a Lesser Whitethroa­t and Osprey were noted.

MORTON BAGOT: There was a Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Dunlin, Green Sandpiper, Little Owl, Redstart, Grasshoppe­r Warbler and Lesser Whitethroa­t.

OTHER SITES: Shustoke Reservoir held six Little Gulls and a White Wagtail. Salford Priors had a Ruff, Corn Bunting and Scaup. Kingsbury WP had a Great White Egret, Arctic Tern and Greenland White-fronted Goose. There was a Great White Egret, Pied Flycatcher, Curlew, Grasshoppe­r Warbler and Marsh Harrier at Ladywalk.
