By train: Less than two hours from Lon­don and Birm­ing­ham on se­lected ser­vices. Train ser­vices op­er­ate from all over the coun­try (and from the Eurostar for Euro­pean ser­vices) to Taun­ton, Tiver­ton Park­way and Bridg­wa­ter, as well as the Tarka Line from Ex­eter to Barn­sta­ple. On­ward bus and taxi ser­vices op­er­ate from these sta­tions to key set­tle­ments within Ex­moor, the Coast and the Quan­tocks. By coach & bus: Na­tional Ex­press pro­vide coach ser­vices to Bridg­wa­ter, Taun­ton, Tiver­ton and Barn­sta­ple which in turn link to Mine­head and some of the larger vil­lages in the area. Berry’s Su­per­fast also op­er­ate coach ser­vices be­tween Lon­don Vic­to­ria and Bridg­wa­ter, Taun­ton and Tiver­ton. Free­dom is closer than you think! By car: Ex­moor is 150 miles from Lon­don and Birm­ing­ham. The M5 mo­tor­way comes fairly close to this area and links with the M4, or the A303 of­fers a more scenic al­ter­na­tive when trav­el­ling from the South East. To reach the Quan­tock Hills, West Som­er­set Coast and the east­ern side of Ex­moor, leave the M5 at junc­tions 23 or 24. These will bring you to Bridg­wa­ter. From Bridg­wa­ter fol­low the A39 which skirts around the north­ern edge of the Quan­tock Hills to Wil­li­ton. The A358 from Taun­ton links with the M5 and A303 to Wil­li­ton. From Wil­li­ton the A358 con­tin­ues along the western edge of the Quan­tock Hills. You can con­tinue along the A39 from Wil­li­ton and this will bring you to the east­ern side of Ex­moor at Dun­ster and Mine­head. To reach the western side of Ex­moor, con­tinue along the M5 to junc­tion 27 for North Devon. From here fol­low the A361 to­wards Barn­sta­ple. At the first round­about you reach, you can turn right along the A396 which takes you along the River Exe val­ley and the south­ern edge of Ex­moor. Oth­er­wise, keep on the A361 for a fur­ther 19 miles to reach Aller Cross round­about. Turn right here on to the A399 to­wards Combe Martin. This will bring you along the western edge of Ex­moor with var­i­ous roads to the right tak­ing you into the moor and the N Devon coast on Ex­moor. By air: The near­est in­ter­na­tional air­ports are found at Ex­eter, Bris­tol and Cardiff. Car hire is avail­able from all air­ports, along with on­ward coach and bus/rail con­nec­tions (see above). There are also reg­u­lar coach links from Heathrow with links to Gatwick, Stansted and Lu­ton air­ports.
