HIGHLANDS

HIGHLIGHTS: Balnakeil logged a Green-winged Teal (7th), two Garganeys (11th), a Stone Curlew (15th), Wood Sandpiper (12th), Little Stint (16th), Hobby (11th) and Yellow Wagtail (9th-10th). A White-billed Diver was at Talmine, Tongue (19th). A Hoopoe (6th) and Hawfinch (2nd) were at Culkein Drumbeg, Assynt. A Nuthatch visited Rogart (7th). A Quail called at the Heights of Dochcarty, Dingwall (25th). A Hobby was at Dornoch (12th). A Surf Scoter was off Portmahomack (8th). A Curlew Sandpiper was at Udale Bay (7th). A Nuthatch was at Loch an Eilein (1st-7th) and a Hobby at Loch Insh (7th). On Skye, a Yellow Wagtail was at Neist Point (2nd-3rd). A Rose-coloured Starling visited Broadford (9th), with possibly the same bird at Waternish (16th-22nd) and Uig (30th). A Marsh Harrier moved through Kinloch, Sleat (23rd). A Hawfinch visited Drumfearn (20th). EASTER ROSS: A Glaucous Gull was at Tain (31st) and an Iceland Gull at Dingwall (1st). Four Black-tailed Godwits were in Dingwall Bay (9th). A Velvet Scoter was among 2,000 Common Scoters off Portmahomack (8th). A Little Gull passed Tarbat ness, (19th) INVERNESS-SHIRE/BADENOCH & STRATHSPEY: Two Shovelers (7th-9th) and three Whitethroats were at Alturlie (7th). Three Wood Warblers were at Craigellachie (3rd). Pied Flycatchers were there (8th), and Loch an Eilein (8th). A Green Woodpecker was at Ruthven (9th) and a Marsh Harrier at Insh Marshes (7th). SKYE AND LOCHALSH: Seawatching produced 158 Puffins off Waternish Point (25th) and 1,000 Manx Shearwaters off Neist Point (7th), where two Purple Sandpipers were recorded (7th). A Glaucous Gull was at Uig (5th), with 30 Whimbrels at Cuidrach (8th). A Green Woodpecker was at Balmacara WESTER ROSS AND SUTHERLAND: A White-fronted Goose (6th), Pomarine Skua (5th) and Iceland Gull (11th) were at Balnakeil (5th). Two Iceland Gulls remained at Ullapool. Three Redstarts were at Achrimsdale, Brora (8th). A Pomarine Skua passed Embo (7th), with a Little Gull there (9th). Tom Wells
