WYE VALLEY: Hobbies were at Nannerth, Llanelwedd, Cwmbach, Glasbury (three) and Clyro. A Water Rail crossed the main road at Newbridge, where Mandarin, Little Egret and Oystercatc­her were found. Sedge Warbler and Grasshoppe­r Warbler were at Cors y Llyn and Kingfisher­s at Builth Road, Brynwern, Boughrood and Llowes. Lesser Whitethroa­ts sang at Cwmbach, Clyro and Boughrood and Little Egrets were at Hay (three), Glasbury (five), Rhayader and Penybont. Yellow Wagtails were recorded from Glasbury, Llowes, Boughrood and Llanelwedd. Waders at Llowes included Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, Greenshank, Little Ringed Plover, Redshank and Whimbrel (six). RADNOR FOREST: A Ring Ouzel was near The Whimble and 20 Crossbills near Shepherds Well, where Merlin and Hobby were seen. Nightjars were found at three sites and Willow Tits at five. Red Grouse were at Black Mixen and Ffoesidoes and three Wood Warblers were singing in Fforest Wood. Two Greenland Wheatears were in Harley Dingle, as well as Stonechat, Whinchat, Dipper, Barn Owl and Grey Wagtail. OTHER SITES: Nocturnal migrant recording at Clyro and Llandrindo­d yielded 23 species including Green Sandpiper, Wood Sandpiper, Quail, Whimbrel, Dunlin, Common Scoter and Tree Pipit. Great Crested Grebes were at Llyn Gwyn, Llandrindo­d Lake, Llanbwchll­yn, Craig Goch and Dol y Mynach. Llyn Heilyn held eight pairs of Coot, a pair of Mute Swans with nine cygnets, seven Black-headed Gull, eight Red Kites, Hobby and Reed Bunting. Nightjars were at Abbeycwmhi­r, Bwlch y Sarnau, New Radnor, Aberedw Hill and Monaughty and Yellow Wagtails at Llanyre, Whitton, Burfa, Knighton and Old Radnor. Hobbys were seen at Beacon Hill, Painscastl­e, Fourstones, Gwaunceste, Newchurch and Gladestry. Mandarins were at Dolfallen Bridge, Disserth, Dolau and Knill.
