This is a picturesque walk, with the chance of leaping Salmon in the autumn. The area is rich in history, with the autumn colours adding to the beauty.
Walk up to the falls looking out for those distinctive water birds found in fast water. Spend time watch the water for a leaping Salmon.
Scan the clear fell across the water for a calling Cuckoo or a displaying Tree Pipit in spring. As the vegetation grows up even owls will feed here.
Despite the firs, oaks grow along the river, so look out for Redstart and Pied Flycatcher and tit flocks moving through.
When you reach the bridge scan for water birds again and scan the surrounding area for raptor movement.
If you don’t want to return the same way you can follow the trail on the other side of the river.
