KEY POINTS

Bird Watching (UK) - - Go Birding -

1 This is a picturesque walk, with the chance of leaping Salmon in the autumn. The area is rich in history, with the autumn colours adding to the beauty.

2 Walk up to the falls looking out for those distinctive water birds found in fast water. Spend time watch the water for a leaping Salmon.

3 Scan the clear fell across the water for a calling Cuckoo or a displaying Tree Pipit in spring. As the vegetation grows up even owls will feed here.

4 Despite the firs, oaks grow along the river, so look out for Redstart and Pied Flycatcher and tit flocks moving through.

5 When you reach the bridge scan for water birds again and scan the surrounding area for raptor movement.

6 If you don’t want to return the same way you can follow the trail on the other side of the river.
