HIGHLIGHTS: A Black-necked Grebe was at Pleasley Colliery (31st). Great White Egrets were at Drakelow (14th) and Willington GP (22nd). Two Spoonbills flew through Willington (29th), with a Ring-necked Duck also there (11th-14th) and a Temminck’s Stint (6th-7th). A Honey Buzzard flew through Ogston Reservoir (21st). ASTON-ON-TRENT GP: There were six Little Egrets, five Green Sandpipers, three Common Sandpipers, 11 Common Terns, a Water Rail and Ringed Plover. CARR VALE: There was a Little Egret, three Hobbies, a Peregrine, three Water Rails, five Snipe, a Dunlin, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, 17 Yellow Wagtails, a Marsh Harrier, Red Kite, Ringed Plover, Golden Plover, Spotted Redshank, Common Gull, two Tree Pipits and a Redstart. CARSINGTON WATER: Highlights included 39 Great Crested Grebes, six Little Egrets, two Red-crested Pochards, two Peregrines, a Ruddy Shelduck, Common Scoter, 16 Goosanders, an Osprey, Hobby, Oystercatc­her, five Little Ringed Plovers, 17 Ringed Plovers, seven Dunlin, a Curlew, three Redshanks, a Green Sandpiper, eight Common Sandpipers, two Knot, a Sanderling, Ruff, three Black-tailed Godwits, a Whimbrel, two Greenshank­s, two Turnstones, two Caspian Gulls, four Yellow-legged Gulls, a Tree Pipit, seven Yellow Wagtails, three Redstarts, two Wheatears, 13 Ravens, a Spotted Flycatcher and two Crossbills. DRAKELOW: Cormorants peaked at 299. There were seven Little Egrets, two Hobbies, three Oystercatc­hers, five Green Sandpipers, a Common Sandpiper, Garganey, Black-tailed Godwit, Spotted Flycatcher and Raven. EREWASH MEADOWS: There were nine Snipe, two Green Sandpipers, a Hobby, three Ruff, nine Black-tailed Godwits and a Spotted Flycatcher. LONG EATON GP: There were 14 Little Egrets, a Peregrine, two Ringed Plovers, a Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpipers, 33 Common Terns, a Red-crested Pochard, Curlew, Turnstone, Yellow Wagtail and Spotted Flycatcher. OGSTON RESERVOIR: Highlights included four Little Egrets, 38 Mandarins, 20 Goosanders, three Hobbies, two Ospreys, a Peregrine, Marsh Harrier, Red Kite, two Oystercatc­hers, a Little Ringed Plover, Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Common Sandpiper, five Common Terns, two Greenshank­s, two Yellow-legged Gulls, four Yellow Wagtails, a Tree Pipit, two Whinchats, seven Spotted Flycatcher­s and a Siskin. WILLINGTON GP: There were eight Little Egrets, four Water Rails, two Oystercatc­hers, two Little Ringed Plovers, two Ringed Plovers, six Snipe, eight Dunlin, nine Green Sandpipers, a Common Sandpiper, two Redshanks, eight Common Terns, eight Goosanders, a Hobby, Knot, Curlew Sandpiper, three Ruff, 16 Black-tailed Godwits, three Yellow-legged Gulls, two Caspian Gulls and two Whinchats. OTHER SITES: Weston Grange GP logged a Curlew Sandpiper, three Caspian Gulls and two Yellow-legged Gulls. Red Kites bred at Kedleston Park, the first breeding in the county since 1863. Rod Key
