HIGHLIGHTS: A Spoonbill was at Holme Pierrepont (5th). A Pied Flycatcher was at Hoveringha­m (7th). Honey Buzzards were at Headon, Walesby, Arnold and Annesely Pit Top. A possible Ortolan Bunting was seen to drop into vegetation at Annesely (29th) but was not relocated. LOUND/IDLE WASHLANDS: Wader highlights included Wood Sandpipers (25th & 31st) and Turnstones (7th & 31st). Otherwise up to 17 Green Sandpipers were seen, six Common Sandpipers, up to nine Greenshank­s, three Ringed Plovers and 12 Black-tailed Godwits. Garganey were regular, with up to seven seen, and Red-crested Pochard numbers began to build with the peak being 32. A Black-necked Grebe was noted on several occasions. Gulls included two Yellow-leggeds, a Med and a Caspian (10th). A Great White Egret was seen (20th). Migrants included up to four Turtle Doves, several Redstarts, a Spotted Flycatcher and a Wheatear (24th). Over at Idle Washlands, Hagg Lane Flash hosted up to five Ruff and 30 Snipe, along with numerous other common waders. Little Egret counts were decent, with up to 72 seen throughout, and a Great White Egret was noted (25th).

ATTENBOROU­GH NR: Green Sandpipers were regular, with up to nine being seen. Nine Black-tailed Godwits were also noted, along with up to four Ruffs, three Dunlin, two Greenshank­s, eight Ringed Plovers, a Wood Sandpiper (17th) and a Whimbrel (20th). A Bittern was noted (5th), while a Great White Egret was seen (15th). An Osprey was present (25th). A Sandwich Tern was noted (25th) and later two Black Terns (29th). The only Garganey was present on the 25th, while two Pintails were seen (29th). LANGFORD LOWFIELDS RSPB: A Sanderling was seen (3rd), and three more (7th). Black-tailed Godwit numbers peaked at 22, and Ringed Plover at 12. A Turnstone was present (14th) and up to three Avocets (18th-27th), and a Knot was seen (19th). Med Gulls, up to eight Yellow-legged Gulls and two Caspian Gulls were all noted, and a Black Tern was seen (10th). A Black-necked Grebe was seen (12th-15th) and another joined (16th). Migrants included several Whinchats and Wheatears. OTHER SIGHTINGS: A Wood Sandpiper was at King’s Mill Reservoir (1st). Greenshank­s were at Holme Pierrepont (three), Kilvington (three) and Hoveringha­m and King’s Mill. Green Sandpipers were widespread, and nine were at Newark Sugar Factory. Kilvington scored 10 Ringed Plovers. Black Terns passed through in small numbers, with one at Kilvington (18th), and two at Holme Pierrepont (22nd) and Hoveringha­m (28th). Caspian Gulls were at Cottam, Cotham Tip and Spalford. Yellow-legged Gulls were at Kilvington (up to 37), with 39 at Spalford. Three Sandwich Terns were at Kings Mill (3rd). Holme Pierrepont hosted a Great White Egret (15th) and a Bittern was at Netherfiel­d Lagoons. Hoveringha­m’s Black Redstart continued to be seen regularly, while Redstarts passed through Wollaton, Bestwood and Linby. Spotted Flycatcher­s were at a number of locations. Small numbers of Wheatears passed through, with birds at Hoveringha­m, Langar and Annesley Pit. Whinchats were scarce with one at Holme Pierrepont (15th) and another at Coates.
