HIGHLIGHTS: Three Spoonbills flew north at Pilling Marsh (21st). A Cattle Egret was at Marshside (25th). A Temminck’s Stint was at Martin Mere (31st). EAST LANCASHIRE: Brockholes had a Great White Egret (16th-17th), Wood Sandpiper (22nd) and Garganey (26th). A Little Gull was at Spring Mill Reservoir (21st). An Osprey was at Anglezarke Reservoir (23rd). Three Sandwich Terns were at Ashworth Moor Reservoir (30th). FYLDE REGION: An early Short-eared Owl was at Fairhaven (12th). Marsh Harriers were at Warton Marsh, St Anne’s Old Links GC (9th), Bank End, Cockerham (18th) and Knott End (28th). Hobbies were at Myerscough Quarry (8th), Bank End (18th) and Newton Marsh (31st). Seawatchin­g off Blackpool produced several Arctic Skuas and Fulmars, Black Guillemots (14th and 21st), a Great Skua (24th), and maxima of 280 Manx Shearwater­s and 1,150 Common Scoters. There were 52 Eiders off Lytham. Stanley Park had 33 Gadwall and two pairs of Great Crested Grebes with young. Twelve Little Grebes were on Myerscough Quarry and ten on Conder Pool. Five Mediterran­ean Gulls were at Skippool. Sandwich Terns included 300 at Knott End. There were 150 at Blackpool, plus three Little Terns (5th) and six Black Terns (26th), with other Black Terns at Rossall (27th) and Lytham (29th). Roosting Little Egrets at Fairhaven Lake peaked at 140, with 37 at Skippool and 32 at The Naze. A Great White Egret was at Glasson Dock (20th). Waders included 1,360 Black-tailed Godwits and 149 Turnstones at Lytham and 500 Sanderling at Blackpool. Skippool and Wardleys held 14 Greenshank­s and a Curlew Sandpiper (23rd). Three Green Sandpipers were at Myerscough Quarry early in the month and three at Wesham (12th). A Wood Sandpiper was at Myerscough (5th-6th). Sixteen Greenshank­s were at Conder Pool (27th), with up to three Whimbrels at several sites. A Cuckoo was at Cockers Dyke early in the month. Two Yellow Wagtails were at Bank End (23rd), Lytham (26th) and Newton Marsh (25th and 30th). A Spotted Flycatcher was at The Naze (29th). A late Swift was near Newton Marsh (31st). MARTON MERE: A Bittern was seen (from 9th). A Black Tern was present (26th-27th) and a Common Tern (1st). There were three Little Grebes, eight Tufted Ducks, five Gadwall, four Teal, three Wigeon and a Garden Warbler. SW LANCASHIRE-N MERSEYSIDE: An early Curlew Sandpiper was at Ainsdale (1st). Formby Beach had 850 Sandwich Terns and two Little Terns (12th). A Great White Egret and 20 Yellow Wagtails were at Hesketh Out Marsh (11th). A Wood Sandpiper was at Martin Mere (11th). A Red Kite and three Marsh Harriers were over Banks Marsh (12th). A Cuckoo was at Marshside (12th). Two Black Terns were at Crosby (24th). Maurice Jones
