NORTHUMBERLAND
HIGHLIGHTS: A Spotted Crake was at Newton Pool (12th-22nd). BERWICK: Cocklawburn had nine Knot, 24 House Martins, nine Sedge Warblers, four Stonechats, a Black Redstart, 260 Lapwings, four Dunlin, six Sanderling, a Goldeneye, 22 Golden Plovers, a Whimbrel, 140 Goldfinches, 34 Ringed Plovers and six Turnstones. A Little Grebe was at Cocklawburn Pond. Calot Shad had 122 Kittiwakes, two Dunlin, ten Whimbrels, five Turnstones, three Ringed Plovers, an Arctic Skua, 68 Goosanders, 72 Curlews, nine Sandwich Terns, 12 Great Black-backed Gulls and a Shelduck. East Ord had 22 Swifts. West Ord had 136 Black-headed Gulls, 46 Common Gulls, 120 Herring Gulls, three Little Egrets, three Greenshanks and a Black-tailed Godwit. New Water Heugh had a Greenshank, 180 Lapwings and 88 Goosanders. The Tweed Estuary held a Barnacle Goose, four Eiders, 118 Goosanders, 26 Herons, 22 Oystercatchers, two Ringed Plovers, 166 Lapwings, 94 Curlews, 154 Redshanks, a Greenshank, six Turnstones, 364 Kittiwakes and four Sandwich Terns. Berwick North Shore had 13 Eiders, five Goosanders, five Shags, 100 Oystercatchers, two Ringed Plovers, 10 Dunlin, two Sanderling, 30 Curlews, a Curlew Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, 17 Turnstones and a Sandwich Tern. There were 28 Shags at Meadow Haven. Little Beach had eight Bar-tailed Godwits, three Whimbrels, 38 Ringed Plovers and 16 Dunlin. NORTH NORTHUMBERLAND: A Red-backed Shrike was on the Farnes (13th). SOUTH NORTHUMBERLAND: A Pectoral Sandpiper was at East Chevington (1st-16th). Three Spoonbills flew over Warkworth (2nd). A Spotted Redshank was at Bothal Pond (4th), with two at East Chevington (27th). A Leach’s Petrel and three Storm Petrels were ringed at Druridge Pools (6th). A Long-tailed Skua flew past Seaton Sluice and Newbiggin (13th). The Caspian Gull and Glaucous Gull remained at Amble. Two Scaup were at East Chevington (29th).
