Female Bullfinche­s share the black cap, black wings and tail and white rump and wing bar and grey back with the males. The main difference is in the underparts, which are an unobtrusiv­e grey-brown colour, where the male is bright pink. Juveniles, are duller still, lacking the black head colour.
