WHERE TO SEE_ GREAT GREY SHRIKES

-

There are many sites across the country where shrikes habitually spend the winter, places like the New Forest, Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Mendips in the south and west are used, as are areas in the Midlands, such as Cannock Chase. But it is the east coast of Britain that is probably your best bet when looking for these birds, with Spurn Point in Yorkshire and large parts of the Norfolk coast being particular favourites. There are many more of course and local knowledge is important, but just because a site isn’t known for Great Grey Shrikes, it doesn’t mean that one won’t turn up!
