Bird Watching (UK)

KEY POINTS

-

1 At the right time of year, start by looking for butterflies at the opening of the wood. A wide range can be found using the various plants growing on the edge of the wood. Listen for tit flocks moving along this edge.

2 Walk along the edge of the wood for a great view down onto the Wash. Check for geese coming off the roost and going to roost. Look out for raptors.

3 A great path can take you back down to the beach but look out

for seed-eaters along the hedges by the wood. This location is ideal for scanning for raptors.

4 The first opening shows you an old stone quarry. Check the face for an amazing amount of solitary wasps and bees, with many morbid from attacks from ichneumon wasps. Listen for Crossbills in the conifers here.

5 Another opening and another mixture of birds with chance of up to three species of woodpecker and even Wood Lark.
