All at sea

-

Before we leave the coast, remember that our shores are not just occupied by waders and wildfowl. Winter is one of the best times for seeing divers on the sea, as well as scarce grebes (Slavonian and Blacknecked and Red-necked). North Sea storms can bring in ‘wrecks’ of Little Auks, which look good on any year list. And the land near the shore is a great place to catch up with such ‘scarce’ and hugely desirable landbirds as Snow Buntings, Lapland Buntings, Shore Larks and Twite, all of which choose to come to the peculiarly coastal habitats for winter.
