Backyard birding
This is one time of year when that extra bit of food put out for garden birds can provide extra reward with more unusual visitors. Fruit may draw in winter thrushes (Fieldfares and Redwings) or even, perhaps, a chance of a Waxwing (if we have the ‘promised’ invasion!). Some lucky garden birdwatchers have attracted Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Mealy (Common) Redpoll and even Hawfinch, during the winter.
