WHERE TO SEE_ BLACK REDSTARTS

-

Most rare breeding birds in the UK tend to be associated with remote places, making it difficult for us birders to connect with them. Black Redstarts, though, are different. If you want to see breeding Black Redstarts, then you don’t need to head to the remotest parts of the country, you need to head to the cities. Breeding Black Redstarts are very much an urban bird. You can also see them in coastal areas during spring passage and in autumn at places like the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall. In winter, the birds can be seen in Lancashire and Lincolnshire southwards and along the south coast.
