POSTCODE: KW17 2NH GRID REF: HY 345 260 HOW TO GET THERE: The main road is the A966 out from Kirkwall. There is a sign for the Broch which has Historic Scotland on the sign. The RSPB hide is well signposted 1.5 miles along the road WHERE TO PARK: Main car parking area by the broch but there are several locations you can stop at, like the Sands of Evie, which has its own car park on a second track past the cemetery. Another car park is found by the RSPB hide TERRAIN: Anything from sand to tarmac to cover the area. The broch is closed in winter but you can view the area from the track down to it OPENING TIMES: 1 Apr to 30 Sept, 9.30am to 5.30pm with last entry at 5pm. Closed 1 Oct to 31 Mar FACILITIES: You’ll need to go to Kirkwall or Stromness for everything PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Buses pass the end of the road daily, although infrequent­ly.
