Follow on across the railway line until you drop to the causeway. With the tide out drive onto the island taking the first left in the village after the large car park WHERE TO PARK: There is a National Trust car park as you rise up on the island on your left. A second car park is close the start of the Straight Lonnen. Both are pay and display TERRAIN: Sandy and wet if that makes sense. Beware of Pirri pirri growing in the dunes sticking to your’s and your dog’s feet. Best to use stout footwear and some days wellies ACCESSIBIL­ITY: An all-year-round walk FACILITIES: Holy island and Berwick or service station on A1 by the turn PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Buses from Newcastle and Berwick stopping on the A1 (501).
