Take the first right turn off the first round­about and drive to Rockcliffe vil­lage driv­ing through this and tak­ing the sec­ond left turn which brings you to the River Eden. For the Boat House, keep go­ing and, on a sharp bend to the right, drive straight on. For Gretna, keep on this mi­nor road un­til you hit the road par­al­lel to the mo­tor­way and turn left and left again into Gretna. Take the first left at the round­about by the garage and left at the sharp bend to the right. Old Grait­ney is on the back road in Gretna. Old Sands­field can be found off the mi­nor road to Burgh off the by­pass fol­low­ing the signs for Ed­ward 1 mon­u­ment in Burgh WHERE TO PARK: Space for sev­eral cars on the verge by the river at Rockcliffe TER­RAIN: The sur­rounds are mainly flat but of­ten muddy. Best to check the tides for best re­sults with low tides of­fer­ing ac­cess at all sites AC­CES­SI­BIL­ITY: All-year-round walks.
