Take the first right turn off the first roundabout and drive to Rockcliffe village driving through this and taking the second left turn which brings you to the River Eden. For the Boat House, keep going and, on a sharp bend to the right, drive straight on. For Gretna, keep on this minor road until you hit the road parallel to the motorway and turn left and left again into Gretna. Take the first left at the roundabout by the garage and left at the sharp bend to the right. Old Graitney is on the back road in Gretna. Old Sandsfield can be found off the minor road to Burgh off the bypass following the signs for Edward 1 monument in Burgh WHERE TO PARK: Space for several cars on the verge by the river at Rockcliffe TERRAIN: The surrounds are mainly flat but often muddy. Best to check the tides for best results with low tides offering access at all sites ACCESSIBIL­ITY: All-year-round walks. FACILITIES: Carlisle and Gretna PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Buses travel to Rockcliffe and Gretna.
