Imprints of birds in snow

If we have a bout of snowy weather, look out for imprints of birds wings, tails and feet in snow. It can be hard to identify birds from their snow prints, but you can at least have a go. Birds such as crows, diurnal birds of prey and owls pouncing on prey or an item of food in the snow can leave impressions of the wing and tail feathers.
