1 The pools hold typical parkland species such as Coot, Mallard, Tufted Duck and Canada Geese with Black-headed, Lesser Black-backed and Herring Gull. Occasional­ly in winter the odd Goosander may turn up. Grey and Pied Wagtails and Grey Herons feed along the shallow areas. Chance of a Kingfisher. There have been Whooper Swan hybrids over the years so be wary! 2 The area around the Parkridge Centre is good for Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Jay, Treecreepe­r, Coal Tit, Long-tailed Tit and Chaffinch with breeding warblers such as Chiffchaff and Blackcap. Tawny Owls are also present in the park. 3conservat­ion Follow the path to the area. Damp areas with reedmace attract Reed Bunting, Whitethroa­t and Sedge Warblers along with the occasional Woodcock during winter. Redpolls and Siskin visit during winter. Look for dragonflie­s during the summer months. 4Green Check horse paddocks for Woodpecker, Stock Dove, Mistle and Song Thrushes. The more open grassland with Hawthorn hedges attract Redwings and Fieldfares from late autumn. The longer grass may attract the occasional passage Stonechat or Whinchat. Kestrel, Sparrowhaw­k and Buzzard are regular with now the chance of a Red Kite.
