What’s this odd duck?
QCan you please identify this odd looking bird I saw at Slimbridge WWT? I know it is one of their collection from around the world but I could not find it on the information boards. Melvin Cave, Malvern
AIt’s a Muscovy Duck, a native of Central and South America, often found in such collections, or indeed on farms or smallholdings, where it can also hybridise with other duck species. Domesticated examples tend to be black and white, but this has a plumage much more typical of a wild bird (presumably because the WWT sourced it from a pure lineage).
