GRID REF: NR 440 691

POSTCODE: PA46 7RE

HOW TO GET THERE:

Once on Islay, you need the A846 from Bridgend to Port Askaig, knowing the ferry times. You’ll find that the only road on Jura is the A846 so carry on along that to reach your destination

WHERE TO PARK: As a single-track road there are many passing place to pull off and scan, but also grassy areas to get off the road. It is best only to leave your car when space is available to allow other traffic to pass with care

TERRAIN: Most of the wildlife can be seen from the road but walking away can be boggy or sandy depending where you go, so stout footwear is advisable

FACILITIES:

You’ll need to head to Bowmore, Islay or Craighouse

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: The one and only public bus along Jura’s one and only road is Bus 456 operated by Garelochhead Coaches. This runs between Feolin ferry pier and Craighouse up to five times a day, taking 20 minutes. Ferry information (not run by CalMac) – ASP Ship Management, tel: 01496 840681
