Sign up for #My200BirdYear
Get the most out of your birdwatching this year by signing up for our fun and flexible challenge!
There can’t be many of us for whom a new year doesn’t bring a fresh surge of enthusiasm for birdwatching, a new impetus to get out there and see more birds, and see them better.
That might be because you’re a lister, and can’t wait to see if you can beat your past records for species seen on your local patch, or throughout your county or bird club area, or maybe across the whole UK and beyond.
But it might just be that you want to fit more birding into your busy life. Perhaps you’re a relative newcomer to the hobby, or maybe you’ve rediscovered it after years away.
Whatever the case is with you, #My200BirdYear is the perfect way to channel your energy.
Add your own twist
It’s very simple – we challenge you to see 200 species of bird in 2020. The rest is up to you. You can set whatever geographical restrictions you like. You can decide what’s tickable and what isn’t. And if you’re really confident, or if you’ve completed the challenge before and want to get a fresh slant on it, you can add your own twist.
Only counting birds you’ve found yourself, for example. Or only those seen while birding on foot, or by bike, or by public transport. Or, perhaps, only those you’ve also photographed.
Whichever rules you choose we can guarantee a few things. We’ll be with you all the way, providing expert advice and tips in the magazine, on our website at birdwatching.co.uk and at our dedicated Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/My200BirdYear
There’ll be reader days with the BW
team and a chance to discover new birds with them, plus exclusive competitions and offers from BW and our partners Leica and Focus Optics. And you’ll finish the year with a better knowledge of birds than you started with, no matter how many you ultimately see. You might find that you shed a few pounds and get fitter, too!
So, what are you waiting for? To sign up, go to birdwatching.co.uk/my200
and join the thousands already rising to the challenge.
