Wetland call

The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust ( WWT) is calling for more nature-rich wetlands in the UK to help stop repeats of catastrophic flooding, such as that which followed the recent Storm Christophe. Wetlands help naturally prevent and mitigate the effects of flooding, and the WWT is pressing for more of these habitats to be incorporated into the UK Government’s flood alleviation policies ahead of World Wetlands Day on 2 February 2021. The UK has lost 90% of its wetlands over the past 400 years.
