CLEVEDON-WESTON-SUPER-MARE: Highlights included two Brent Geese, 600 Shelducks at Sand Bay, a Common Scoter passing Weston (27th), and nine Goosanders on the Blind Yeo. Waders at Clevedon-Yeo included ten Avocets, seven Knot, a Jack Snipe and Spotted Redshank. Also there were two Great White Egrets, a Yellow-legged Gull, Marsh Harrier and Hen Harrier.

A Woodcock was at Bleadon Levels (19th). Sand Point logged a Merlin, two Firecrests and a Dartford Warbler (1st).

SEVERNSIDE: Eleven Tundra Bean Geese roamed the upper Severn and were seen four times at Oldbury. Four Whooper Swans passed several Severnside sites (8th). Waders at Northwick Warth included five Avocets and 180 Black-tailed Godwits. Northwick and Aust Warth logged three Jack Snipe, two Merlins, a Mediterran­ean Gull, Yellow-legged Gull, Short-eared Owl, Firecrest, two Water Pipits and a Snow Bunting. Oldbury had 1,000 Dunlin (7th) and 60 Blackbirds (6th).

Stonechats were widespread and included 20 at Portbury Wharf.

THE RESERVOIRS: Chew held a dark-bellied Brent Goose (24th), 12 Red-crested Pochards (25th), two Scaup, a Slavonian Grebe (from 9th), with two (31st), 11 Great White Egrets, a Bittern, three Marsh Harriers, two Hen Harriers, a Merlin, Woodcock, two Water Pipits, eight Bearded Tits, eight Chiffchaff­s, a Siberian Chiffchaff and seven Cetti’s Warblers. A Mediterran­ean Gull toured all three reservoirs.

The main reservoirs shared 570 Pochards, 2,000 Tufted Ducks, 80 Goldeneyes, 12 Goosanders and 3,400 Coots. The Long-tailed Duck and Great Northern Diver remained at Barrow Gurney. There were 39 Cattle Egrets between Chew and Blagdon. The Backwell Lake roost of Little Egrets peaked at 56.

OTHER SITES: Two Mandarins, a Merlin and Woodcock were in the Gordano Valley. Yate had eight Goosanders and several other Avon lakes had two or three. There were 55 Golden Plovers at Bristol Airport, 57 north of Bath and 50 at Newton St Loe. There were 208 at Saltford, along with a Jack Snipe, Woodcock, Merlin and Yellow-browed Warbler. Seven Woodcocks were at Lower Woods, Wickwar, with others at Winford and Marshfield. Marshfield also had a Marsh Harrier, Merlin and 10,000 Starlings.

A Short-eared Owl visited Bristol Airport (27th-28th). One Bristol garden held eight Blackcaps. A Portishead ringer caught two Firecrests. Others were at several sites around Bristol. The city also had two Yellow-browed Warblers and a Hawfinch. Black Redstarts were wintering at five, mostly coastal, sites.
