HIGHLIGHTS: Meadow Lane GP had a Green-winged Teal (from 7th) and a White-fronted Goose. Four Scaup were at Brogboroug­h Lake and one at Grovebury SP. A Kittiwake was at Stewartby Lake (21st). BERKSHIRE

HIGHLIGHTS: A White-tailed Eagle flew over Horseshoe Lake (14th), with presumably the same bird over Sandhurst (16th). The long-staying Pink-footed Goose and two White-fronted Geese remained at Padworth, with 16 Whitefront­s at Lea Farm and Lavell’s Lake (1st-2nd). An Avocet was at Lower Farm (3rd). Two Siberian Chiffchaff­s were at Sandhurst (2nd) and one at Cookham (7th). A Merlin was at Compton Downs (5th). Elaine Charlson

BUCKINGHAM­SHIRE

HIGHLIGHTS: A White-tailed Eagle, one of the Isle of Wight released birds, flew in and out of the county at Great Brickhill (27th and 28th). A Bewick’s Swan flew over Monks Risborough (17th). A Curlew was at Ickford (19th and 25th). Merlins were at Upper Tove Valley (4th), Loosley Row (17th) and Wingrave (22nd). A Siberian Chiffchaff was at Watermead (9th-10th). Three Hawfinches were at Great Hampden (8th-9th), with others at Bury Lake (20th) and Stowe (10th). The Black Redstart remained at Whitehouse, Milton Keynes. COLLEGE LAKE: There was a Great White Egret

throughout, five Barnacle Geese (13th), a Red- crested Pochard (22nd and 26th), two Oystercatc­hers (from 10th), a Jack Snipe (22nd-26th) and a Redshank (from 23rd).

FLOODPLAIN FOREST: Highlights were three Great White Egrets, Caspian Gull (8th), Pintail (14th-17th), and two (25th), four Goosanders, and four Oystercatc­hers (12th-27th).

LITTLE MARLOW GP: There was a Dunlin (15th), eight Shelducks, a Mediterran­ean Gull (22nd), Yellow- legged Gull (23rd) and Caspian Gulls (6th and 27th-28th). Some 3,000 Common Gulls roosted (24th).

OTHER SITES: Up to four Great White Egrets were at eight sites. Five Barnacle Geese were at Marsworth Reservoir, and two flew over Tattenhoe Park, MK (19th). Pintails were at Eythrope (25th) and Magna Park (1st). A Red- crested Pochard was at Marsworth Reservoir, with two at Willen North (13th-14th). Four Jack Snipe were at Eythrope, with six at Lacey Green and singles at Gallows Bridge Farm (6th) and Ickford (20th). Mediterran­ean Gulls were at Dorney Lake (17th) and Jubilee River (5th). Three Yellow- legged Gulls and two Caspian Gulls were at Newton Leys. A Caspian Gull was at Caldecotte Lake (23rd). Large flocks of Bramblings were widespread. Jo Orchard (www.bucksbirdc­lub.co.uk)

HAMPSHIRE

BLASHFORD LAKES: The regular Ring- billed Gull roosted on Ibsley Water and also visited Tidpit. Ibsley Water also had 37 Goldeneyes, 67 Goosanders, a Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Yellow- legged Gull, four Mediterran­ean Gulls and two Marsh Harriers. A Bittern was on Ivy Lake. Siberian Chiffchaff­s were seen (2nd and 27th). LANGSTONE HARBOUR: Farlington Marshes had a Caspian Gull (19th). Langstone Harbour held 15 Goldeneyes and five Black- necked Grebes. Emsworth had two Black Brants and a Spotted Redshank. Eleven Cattle Egrets moved between Warblingto­n and Northney. The Sandy Point area had two Slavonian Grebes (18th) and a Black-throated Diver (9th).

LYMINGTON-KEYHAVEN MARSHES: Two Spoonbills were seen regularly in the Pennington Marshes area. The Little Stint remained at Normandy Marsh. Other waders included 24 Avocets, four Ruff, two Spotted Redshanks and six Greenshank­s. Two Slavonian Grebes (4th-5th), a Great Northern Diver (9th), four Eiders and six Goldeneyes were offshore. A Black Redstart was at Sturt Pond (25th).

TITCHFIELD HAVEN-WARSASH: Titchfield Haven had a White-fronted Goose (5th-22nd), Kittiwakes (24th and 28th), five Spoonbills (11th), a Great White Egret (12th), four Marsh Harriers, and a Siberian Chiffchaff (11th, 14th and 22nd). A Cattle Egret and Water Pipit were by the canal path. The Hill Head area logged 42 Eiders, eight Common Scoters, two Velvet Scoters (6th) and a Slavonian Grebe (20th). A Snow Bunting flew over (18th). Hook-with-Warsash had a Yellow- browed Warbler (2nd).

OTHER SITES: An Iceland Gull flew over Meonstoke (14th). A Caspian Gull was in Fareham Creek (8th, 11th and 23rd). Two Black-throated Divers were in Portsmouth Harbour (26th and 28th). Weston Shore had two Great Northern Divers. A Slavonian Grebe was at Calshot (20th). Lepe had 12 Spoonbills. Barton- on- Sea had a Great Skua (12th), 16 Kittiwakes (12th) and a county record 33 Purple Sandpipers. Fishlake Meadows had a Bittern (27th), Kittiwake (11th), three Great White Egrets and a Marsh Harrier.

Great White Egrets were at various sites along the Test. Away from roost sites, Hen Harriers were at Broomy Plain (3rd),

Woolmer Forest (6th) and Longslade Bottom (19th). Merlins were at five sites. Siberian Chiffchaff­s were at Eastleigh SF and Darby Green. A Black Redstart was at Fawley (20th). Two Water Pipits were at both Lower Test and Alresford. Tom Jordan

HERTFORDSH­IRE

HIGHLIGHTS: The Serin remained at Woodoaks Farm, Maple Cross (to 13th). The Smew remained at Amwell, with another at North Met Pit (4th). Hawfinches were at several sites, including ten at Bramfield.

KENT

HIGHLIGHTS: Worth Marsh had a White Stork (1st-28th), two Bewick’s Swans (1st- 6th), 42 Russian White-fronted Geese (2nd) and a Water Pipit (11th). Up to seven Shore Larks were at Leysdown- on- Sea. A Hume’s Leaf Warbler was at St Margaret’s at Cliffe (2nd-27th). Cliffe Pools had a Glossy Ibis (3rd-25th). Dungeness RSPB had two Glossy Ibises, a Smew, Water Pipit and four Cattle Egrets. Swalecliff­e had a Black Brant (7th) and Glossy Ibis (11th). Fordwich had a Dusky Warbler (10th-23rd). Two Black Brants were at Coldharbou­r Lagoon (13th-24th), with two at Reculver (19th-26th). Little Murston had a Ring- necked Duck (19th-23rd) and Spotted Redshank (21st). A Glossy Ibis was at Yantlett Creek (24th). An unringed White Stork was around Sandwich Bay (24th-25th).

SURREY

HIGHLIGHTS: A Ring- necked Duck was at Reigate. A White-tailed Eagle flew over Crooksbury Common (11th). Hedgecourt Lake had a Bittern (5th). A Russian White-fronted Goose was at Dorking (6th-15th). A Scaup was at Thorpe Park (7th-26th), with a drake (9th). A Kittiwake was at Island Barn Reservoir (22nd). A Caspian Gull was at Mercers CP (24th).

SUSSEX

EAST SUSSEX: An American Robin was at Eastbourne (8th-27th). There was a Hume’s Leaf Warbler at Eastbourne throughout.

WEST SUSSEX: Pagham Harbour and the Sidlesham area had six Glossy Ibises and 49 Cattle Egrets. Arundel WWT had a Glossy Ibis and seven Cattle Egrets (15th). White-tailed Eagles flew over Burpham (3rd) and Pagham Harbour (9th). A Black Brant was with dark- bellied Brent Geese at Thorney Island (27th).
