CAMBRIDGES­HIRE

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hoopoe remained in the Heathfield area, as did the Great Grey Shrike at Comberton. The Yellow- browed Warbler was at Milton CP (to 17th). A Ring Ouzel was at Dogsthorpe at Star Pit (to 2nd). A Green-winged Teal was at Smithy

Fen (28th). Glossy Ibises included six at Ouse Fen (to 10th), five at Berry Fen (27th) and one on the Nene Washes (to 10th). Three Spoonbills were at Kingfisher­s Bridge. The Kumlien’s Gull remained between Heydon and Chrishall Grange, calling in at Dernford Farm Reservoir (16th and 24th),

Smithey Fen (16th and 27th) and the Ouse Washes (25th). Cherry Hinton Pits had an Iceland Gull and Kittiwake (24th). Another Iceland Gull was on the Nene Washes (27th). The five Tundra Bean Geese remained by the Ouse Washes, with another at the Ouse Fen (10th). Grafham Water logged 125 Kittiwakes (21st), a Great Northern Diver, Smew (25th) and seven Scaup. A Kittiwake was at Dernford Farm Reservoir (21st). The Black- necked Grebe remained at Godmanches­ter GP. Smew included seven at Fen Drayton Lakes, six at Paxton Pits and one at Bainton GP. ESSEX

FRINTON- ON- SEA: Highlights included two Kittiwakes, 21 Red-throated Divers, a Glossy Ibis, Nordic- race Jackdaw, Fulmar, two Gannets and 347 Brent Geese.

METROPOLIT­AN ESSEX: Fairlop Waters had 31 Golden Plovers. King George V Reservoir held a Red- necked Grebe, three Black- necked Grebes, a Great Northern Diver, two Scaup and a Smew. Great White Egrets were over Woodford Green and Seventy Acres Lake where a Bittern and three Smew remained. A Bittern flew over the Upminster farmlands. Two Cattle Egrets remained in the Mardyke. Holyfield Lake had a Scaup. Jack Snipe were in the Ingrebourn­e and at Dagenham Chase. A Caspian Gull was at Eagle Pond. The Siberian Chiffchaff remained at Creekside.

MID-ESSEX: Abberton Reservoir had five Scaup, 130 Goldeneyes, four Smew, a Red- necked Grebe, two Slavonian Grebes, a Long-tailed Duck, eight Bewick’s Swans, a Pink-footed Goose, 33 Russian Whitefront­s, six Cattle Egrets and six Great White Egrets. Mersea Island had two Great White Egrets, a Black Brant, pale- bellied Brent, four Great Northern Divers, three Slavonian Grebes and a Shag. Four Short- eared Owls, 16 Marsh Harriers and two Hen Harriers were on Langenhoe and Reeveshall. A Snow Bunting was in a West Mersea garden. Fingringho­e had 30 Red- breasted Mergansers, a Merlin and Little Gull. A Spotted Redshank was at Brightling­sea. A Bittern was at Wivenhoe. Eleven Jack Snipe were at The Hythe. Old Hall Marshes had three Great White Egrets, a Cattle Egret, four Whitefront­s, four Great Northern Divers, three Slavonian Grebes and two Hen Harriers. There were two Great White Egrets and 224 Avocets at Tollesbury. A Scaup, three Eiders, a Black-throated Diver and Little Stint were at Goldhanger. A Slavonian Grebe was near Sandford Mill. A Great White Egret was at Russell Green. Twenty Hawfinches were at Blakes Hall

NORTH ESSEX: Holland Haven had 40 Russian Whitefront­s, 11 Purple Sandpipers, a Dartford Warbler and two Bramblings. The Naze had three Short- eared Owls, a Purple Sandpiper, Eider and Merlin. A Short- eared Owl was at Colne Point. Hamford Water had 14 Marsh Harriers and a Hen Harrier.

RAINHAM MARSHES: Highlights included a Spoonbill, 45 Avocets, the first Oystercatc­hers, three Common Sandpipers, four Ravens, three Red Kites, Marsh Harriers, two Dartford Warbler and five Firecrests.

SOUTH-EAST ESSEX: The Blue House Farm/ South Woodham Ferrers area had a Red- breasted Goose, two Black Brants, a

pale- bellied Brent, 54 Russian Whitefront­s, a Pinkfoot, three Spoonbills, 1,500 Bar-tailed Godwits, 325 Avocets, 9,000 Knot, a Hen Harrier and two Merlins. Two Great White Egrets were there, with others at Fleet Head and Bowers Marsh. Canvey logged 34 Red-throated Divers, a Black-throated Diver, Great Northern Diver, ten Kittiwakes, 15 Guillemots and four Razorbills.

Two Great Northern Divers were off Gunners Park. Bradwell produced 132 Red-throated, a Black-throated and Great Northern Diver, a Shag, Merlin, Hen Harrier and three Short- eared Owls. Seven Short- eared Owls were at South Fambridge, four at Canewdon and four over Potton Island. The White Stork remained around East Tilbury. Ten Hawfinches were around Hadleigh and Hockley. A Black Redstart was on Foulness. Water Pipits were at Vange and Blue House Farm.

NORFOLK

HIGHLIGHTS: A Red- breasted Geese was in the Cley area (from 3rd). The wintering Short-toed Lark was seen in flight at West Runton. A Dotterel was at Thornham Harbour (21st-22nd), Titchwell (22nd) and Burnham Overy Marshes (25th). A Glossy Ibis was at Claxton (15th), Rockland St Mary (19th-24th) and Wheatfen (25th-26th). Others were at between Honing and East Ruston (12th), Sheringham (12th), Waxham (12th) and Cley (24th). The Red- necked Grebe remained at Rollesby Broad. Three Smew were at Lily Broad (20th) and one at Taverham Mill (to 24th). Nine Tundra Bean Geese were at Welney. Up to five Shore Larks remained in the Holkham Bay area. Between Burnham Overy Dunes and Scolt Head Island, there were two Long-tailed Ducks and a Great Northern Diver. BREYDON WATER: Highlights were two Spoonbills, 329 White-fronted Geese, 20 Bewick’s Swans, six Great White Egrets and 29 Little Egrets. There was a Merlin, Hen Harrier, two Short- eared Owls, a Kingfisher, Snow Bunting, and three Cetti’s Warblers. Maxima were 10 Cormorants, three Great Crested Grebes, 6,000 Pinkfeet, 72 Shelducks, 19,590 Wigeon, 102 Gadwall, 1,810 Teal, 102 Mallards, 142 Pintails, 540 Shovelers, Goosander, 507 Avocets, 53 Oystercatc­hers, 42 Ringed Plovers, 19,120 Golden Plovers, 51 Grey Plovers, 2,260 Lapwings, 11 Knot, 4,417 Dunlin, 2,040 Black-tailed Godwits, 49 Bar-tailed Godwits, 997 Redshanks, 983 Curlews and a Spotted Redshank.

NOA HOLME: Maxima were two Pintails, 220 Dunlin, 200 Common Scoters, 24 Shelducks, 350 Teal, 135 Fieldfares, 12 Bramblings, 930 Wigeon, 1,600 Golden Plovers, 55 Black-tailed Godwits, three Snipe, two Slavonian Grebes, three Kittiwakes, 14 Barnacle Geese, 38 Eiders, 35 Red- breasted Mergansers, two Great Northern Divers, 52 Great Crested Grebes, four Red Kites, two Cranes, two Little Owls, 13 Red-throated Divers, 432 Brent Geese, 1,524 Lapwings, four Ruff, 31 Fulmars, two Long-tailed Ducks, two Razorbills, two Goosanders, six Gannets, 2,000 Pinkfeet, three Spoonbills, three

Stonechats and Grey Wagtail, Goldeneye, Greenshank, Peregrine, Rock Pipit, Hen Harrier, Barn Owl, Merlin, Bullfinch, Great White Egret, Siskin, Chiffchaff and Bittern.

NOA REDWELL MARSH: Highlights were 110 Wigeon, two Buzzards, 71 Curlews, six Black-tailed Godwits, two Cetti’s Warblers, four Egyptian Geese, an Oystercatc­her, 100 Teal, Snipe, 23 Shovelers, two Avocets, three Redshanks and a Great Spotted Woodpecker.

CLEY AREA: Highlights were 15 Snow Buntings, Great Northern Diver, two Tundra Bean Geese, four Water Pipits, Hen Harrier, Caspian Gull, White-fronted Goose and five Spoonbills.

at Walberswic­k (from 6th). The Glaucous Gull was at Hen Reedbeds. Waxwings were at Bucklesham (1st-2nd) and Wangford (22nd). Black-throated Divers were on the Orwell (to 10th) and at Dunwich (19th). A Slavonian Grebe was in Holbrook Bay (7th).
