HIGHLIGHTS: A Penduline Tit was briefly at Pennington Flash (9th). A Glossy Ibis was seen near Elton Reservoir (10th) and it or another was on Audenshaw Reservoirs (19th). A Swift species was reported over Bury (25th). A Pectoral Sandpiper was on Carrington Moss (2nd). A Long-tailed Duck lingered at Elton Reservoir (3rd-30th).

ELTON RESERVOIR: A Little Owl was seen.

PENNINGTON FLASH: Two Whooper Swans were seen (3rd) with an immature later (28th). Thirty-six Common Scoters dropped in (14th). A Bittern was seen. A Caspian Gull roosted on and off, also a Yellow-legged Gull and Mediterran­ean Gull. A Merlin was seen (11th) and a Marsh Harrier flew through (22nd).

MERSEY VALLEY: A Red Kite lingered in Flixton early month. An Osprey flew over Ashton-upon-Mersey (10th) and a Merlin flew through Shell Pool NR (6th). A Mediterran­ean Gull flew over Broad Ees Dole (8th).

OTHER SITES: A Hawfinch flew over Lightshaw Hall Flash (11th). A Common Scoter was on Salford Quays (14th). An Iceland Gull was in Gorton (29th). A Caspian Gull was at Tyldesley (5th & 25th) and Atherton (7th) with another at Gorton (14th & 28th-29th) and three at Audenshaw Reservoirs (27th). A Kittiwake and a Common Scoter were at Hollingwor­th Lake (17th). A Grey Plover flew over Chat Moss (18th) and a Short-eared Owl was over Little Woolden Moss (19th). Up to three Marsh Harriers were over the mosslands too. Up to two Scaup were on Amberswood Lake. Horwich Moors sightings included two Snow Buntings over (2nd) and single Ring Ouzels (3rd & 25th).
